Employee Electronics Collection Events
Cascade offers a simple, secure and responsible service to recycle your employees’ computer and electronic gear.
Cascade commends your interest in promoting the responsible recycling of computers and other electronic equipment to your employees. By providing a convenient option for the proper management of unwanted computers and televisions, we can work together to assist individuals who want to “do the right thing” with their unwanted equipment.
Resources available from Cascade
As your partner in IT asset retirement, we want to be a resource for you not only in processing and handling the computers and other electronics from your employees, but in helping you plan, organize, and execute the collection event. From resource guides to templates for promotional materials, Cascade has developed a toolkit to help with many types of collection programs. We also are available to consult with your planning team to ensure the program is a success.
Experience brought by Cascade
Cascade has hosted scores of collection events itself bringing in over 500 tons of old electronics, and has participated as a processor for many more municipal collection events through relationships with our partners. Cascade led educational sessions in national workshops to help other communities plan collection events through a Dell and National Recycling Coalition grant award program. We enjoy collaboration and developing new options to keep computer and electronics equipment out of the landfill in a win-win situation.
The same Safe & Sound processing for your employees’ equipment
Cascade takes the same care handling equipment from collection events as it does with all equipment handled through corporate accounts. That means data security and privacy interests are fully protected and environmentally sound recycling and liability protection are ensured. We process equipment ourselves and do not allow hazardous e-waste to be dumped in developing countries.
Keeping it simple for your employees
Surveys of individuals indicate that one of the biggest challenges in increasing recycling rates is in making the task of getting equipment from the person’s home to the recycling center simple and convenient. Since there are few options for individuals to leave computers at their curb for recycling, or for recycling centers to offer home pick-up of old computers, most individuals must take their computer to a drop off location for recycling. This involves a separate trip, additional handling costs, and more time from the individual.
By offering a drop-off alternative at the worksite, we can eliminate the separate trip to the recycling center and reduce the time it takes to find a new home for the computer. Cascade staff can even help with handling by offering to unload equipment from vehicles. Cascade’s goal is to make recycling computer equipment for individuals as easy as stopping at a fast food drive through.

What to do next:
If this type of activity looks interesting to you, it would be appropriate to speak with Cascade staff to discuss your particular questions and initiate an assessment on the feasibility of engaging in this type of program. You can also review the sample “Collection Event Implementation Plan” to begin looking at the questions Cascade would ask when putting together a program for you. If this looks like a good opportunity, Cascade will complete the implementation plan with you to develop a systematic strategy for ensuring this event will be a success for your employees and your company.
