TECHQUITY

HELPING BRIDGE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE WITH DONATED LAPTOPS, DESKTOPS, AND TABLETS

Cascade is partnering with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County to provide laptops, desktops, and tablets to those in need. A second option for Cascade clients is to donate the profits they generate from reselling their retired IT equipment.

  • For businesses and institutions looking to DONATE used technology assets, please contact us via the form field below.
  • For community members and organizations interested in RECEIVING donated computers and tablets, please contact the United Way.

WHAT IS TECHQUITY?

Techquity is a new collective impact initiative of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.

WHAT CAN BE DONATED?

Donations of functional laptops, desktops, and iPads are encouraged. However, any proceeds generated from the resale of other assets can also contribute to your donation. Items should be in good cosmetic condition, fully intact, and operational. Devices with immediate need include:

  • 8th Gen i5 laptops (Dell, HP, Lenovo) and above

  • 8th Gen i5 desktops and 24” LCD monitors
  • 7th Gen Apple iPads

WHO RECEIVES THE DONATION?

United Way will receive all donations and distribute them to program and agency partners in the Greater Milwaukee Area.

WHO CAN DONATE?

Businesses and institutions can donate equipment. At this time, donations from households are not accepted.

HOW DO WE BENEFIT?

Your donations to Techquity help the community provide technological access and resources to individuals with limited resources. Your organization may also write off the value of the devices.

HOW DO WE DONATE?

Contact a Cascade associate to discuss whether your equipment qualifies, and the benefits of your donation. There are two methods to provide the resources United Way needs:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO OUR DEVICES?

Before donation, all equipment is tested for functionality. Devices are then sanitized of data and a new operating system is loaded.

IS THERE A COST?

Costs to test, erase, and load new operating systems are charged through fees. Fees may be covered by the sale of some of the equipment. In the event an organization requires disposition of other devices not for donation, fees may apply.
