The growing Digital Divide underscores the need for equitable access to technology, especially in underserved communities. Many businesses want to help charitable organizations by donating their surplus computer equipment. However, it’s not as simple as giving old computers to a non-profit. Cascade, which is now Sage Sustainable Electronics, helps organizations create impactful donation strategies that maximize the benefits of charitable giving while minimizing risk and hassle to the donor.

HOW WE SUPPORT & SIMPLIFY TECH DONATION EFFORTS

Since 1999, we have helped enterprises extend the useful life of their devices. We make the process easy as a single point of contact to manage logistics, data destruction, refurbishing, donation management, certified recycling, and detailed reporting of how each device was processed.

Through partnerships with several charities, we’ve distributed over 10,000 quality refurbished devices to deserving communities in Wisconsin, Indiana, Florida, and beyond. DONATE RESALE PROCEEDS

For organizations retiring a range of IT assets, our standard services cover everything from processing to equipment resale. Proceeds returned to you from selling the assets can be redirected to a digital equity program. Donating resale proceeds, versus equipment, offers nonprofits the following advantages:

Flexibility to use funds for internet access
Opportunities to buy used or new hardware
Funding for technology education

DONATE USABLE EQUIPMENT

If your organization has identified a nonprofit that accepts specific device types, we can assist with device processing including secure data wiping, testing, and refurbishment. Items should be complete and in good cosmetic condition. For devices that don’t qualify for the program, we can process and resell them to help offset fees.

IS THERE A COST?

The cost of transporting, testing, erasing, and loading new operating systems is charged through fees. We will also identify any applicable donation management fees, license fees, installation costs, and packing costs. If an organization requires the disposition of other devices that are not suitable for donation, fees will apply. However, by applying profits generated from equipment resale, we can reduce or eliminate an organization’s out-of-pocket expenses.

COMPLETE REPORTING FOR COMPLIANCE AND ESG GOALS

We offer detailed reports on donated devices and resale proceeds, which are particularly useful for companies producing Corporate Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reports. This data enables organizations to highlight their contributions to charitable programs and impact on the community.
